Freewheeling flats
A freewheeling flat’s base has a word or phrase that is not only “not MW”, it lacks dictionary nature: it does not, should not, and will not appear in any theoretical dictionary ever. A freewheeling letter shift would be ONE = blustering, TWO = blue string. Freewheeling bases were once exclusively used in Ralfs (but not marked “freewheeling” to hide their Ralfish nature), but it was then argued that freewheeling bases often weren’t Ralfish enough, and they began appearing (very) occasionally in the Enigma. Freewheeling bases should not vary too much from MW words and phrases, since the idea can be taken too far. It is unlikely that a well-mixed freewheeling transposal would ever be printed, for example. The term “freewheeling” was coined by Crax.
The solution: HUH = n’est-ce pas, DUH = yes, Pa. As above, if one part of freewheeling flat is indeed a dictionary phrase, it is enumerated in brackets.
