Alchemism

← Acrotelestichal enigma
Altered state →

The name of a chemical element is replaced with the name of another. Example: foxy gene, far-gone [oxygen → argon]. Unlike most flats, alchemisms need not have bases that have dictionary nature; essentially, this is a freewheeling word substitution where the shorter words are both names of chemical elements. Newrow introduced the alchemism in July 2016.
